This is a simple and delicious soup made up of fresh fish from wet market. When you don’t want to make complicated dishes but still want something tasty, this soup is a good choice for you!
濃香蕃茄薯仔鮮魚湯 Strong Fish Stock with Potatoes and Tomatoes
We deliberately made the soup strong. Every sip of it is full of savory flavor of fresh fish
The fish is HK$20-30 per plate. It’s ideal for making the soup
The fish was already scaled by the hawker. We have to rinse it thoroughly and take out all organs as they are the source of unpleasant fishy flavor.
Towel dry the fish after that.
High heat on, slices of ginger in
Place all fish into the pan, switch it to medium heat.
Can you see that there’s a fish with flesh off? We prepared dinner for our cats with that piece of flesh
The fish will mashed upon stir-frying
Mashed that until it looks like this
Pour boiling water (it must be boiling) into the mashed fish
The soup turns white if the water temperature is high enough
We can then put the lid on the pot and let it simmer on low heat for 45 mins
The soup becomes milky white at this moment. We can now take out all the residual inside with a sieve. Actually it’s better to filter out the residual by a colander but we don’t have one lol
Pour the soup into a larger pot. Add chopped potatoes and tomatoes and cook for another 15 mins. Done!
Instead of potatoes and tomatoes, we may also use papaya or coriander+tofu or pumpkin+corn etc…
So the dinner for human is done. Now it’s the turn for cats’ dinner
